Tony specializes in the arena of corporate and commercial covering all kinds of international/cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financing, general corporate commercial matters, property development and sale and purchase transactions. He has also taken the lead in advising multi-national corporate clients on various widely reported high value property transactions. His profound legal knowledge and proactive working attitude to work closely with clients and be pragmatic in bridging up the gap between clients’ business objectives and the legal parameters have been widely recognized by clients.

Tony also specializes in advising clients in a wide range of property related matters in Hong Kong, Mainland China and overseas, such as project financing, acquisition of buildings and hotels. He is also highly regarded in handling retail leases and is also recognized as one of the most knowledgeable, proactive and practical lawyers in the commercial leasing arena in Hong Kong.

Tony has all along been successful in representing his corporate clients, including industry leaders of retail, supermarket, food & beverages, real estate development and private equity funds to advise them as tenants on:

• their tenancies or leases of street shops and mall shops, licences of external walls or signage space for advertisement purpose and common areas for placing air-conditioning units, and licences or display agreements in respect of roof-top signages; and
• sub-leasing their respective premises to sub-tenants.

Tony has also acted for professional landlords to:

• acquire whole buildings and shopping arcade, and advise on the subsequent lease back arrangement;
• set up proforma tenancy agreement/lease for individual units in buildings and shopping malls as landlord, and advise clients in respect of tenants’ comments on such forms; and
• in the case of premises with existing tenants, prepare Concurrent Lease to the effect that the client becomes the principal tenant of the premises and hence the landlord of such existing tenants.

Tony also has extensive experience in a wide spectrum of IP-related work covering contentious, non contentious, anti-counterfeiting, enforcement, merchandising advice, licensing and domain name dispute resolution in Hong Kong, Mainland China and other jurisdictions of the world.

Prior to the setting up of Tonys Lawyers, Tony had established his practice in a number of top tier leading international and local firms including Reed Smith Richards Butler, Baker & McKenzie and Deacons.

Tony has been recognized as a Recognised Practitioner for Corporate/M&A in Chambers Global and Asia Pacific 2019.
